Wil Greer is the Director of the Department of Equity & Targeted Student Achievement in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. This is his 24th year in education. His department includes 16 full time, and 50 part time staff members. All are working to help schools create excellence for African American students in math, English, A-G completion, and with parent engagement.
Prior to this role Dr. Greer earned his PhD from Claremont Graduate University and was a tenure-track professor of educational leadership for five years at Cal State University, San Bernardino. He taught courses on leadership and research methods, won ACSA regional Education Professor of the Year in 2016, and published 12 studies, papers, and book chapters on equity for students of color. Wil has also been a high school vice principal, district coordinator, and history teacher. Most importantly, he is a father, husband, and San Bernardino resident.
In his professional role, Dr. Greer offers training and workshops for students, teachers, parents, and leaders at the school or district levels. His teacher prep PD empowers educators to close gaps and create academic excellence for African American and other high-need students. Dr. Greer’s new racial slurs training provides students and educators with valuable historical context, a lesson on situational appropriateness, and a protocol for school staff members.
